As far as I know, this upstream bug fix for https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46976";>Xserver 1.11+
reports absolute valuator.values for relative devices leaves some
wine games (and possibly other programs) with erratic mouse movement.

In Ubuntu 8.04.1, mplayer package 2:1.0~rc2-0ubuntu13, -fixed-vo does
not function properly. fixed-vo is supposed to initialize a maximum of
one window when playing multiple files. To demonstrate a simple example
of it being broken:
1. Choose
"java -client -Xshare:dump -XX:PermSize=128m > $log.txt" as part of
/var/lib/dpkg/info/openjdk-6-jre-headless.postinst seems to be the
problem. Specifically, at least in my case, the problem is tied in with
my use of sysctl vm.overcommit_memory=2 to avoid overcommiting memory.

While xmms-xf86audio is nice, it doesn't give you much control over the
previous/next button, which are often overloaded on real audio players
to service the function of not only switching to the previous/next song
but to also rewind/fastfo
Here's a patch that should produce the desired results:
