Guys, I've bought one more HP 530 and installed Kubuntu Hardy there.
So : in LiveCD mode and after installing Kubuntu to hard disk system was
reacting on laptop lid close. (But after turning off display system
turned it on in a couple of seconds.)
I noticed that "vesa" driver for graphical adapte
I have HP 530 and Kubuntu, and lid doesn't work. I have tried Ubuntu
8.04 as live CD and it works there perfectly, also it does work from
Kubuntu 8.04 live CD, BUT after a couple of seconds the display turns
on.

packages from Medibuntu were removed.

I have and it locks up/freezes the computer when X starts. Same problem with
Xen too. But that is an Nvidia problm and not much Ubuntu developers can do
about it till Nvidia open sources their drivers/card documentation.

It installs fine though it doesn't work with the Nvidia binary drivers
for pci express card 8800 GTX

Everything installs fine. Only problem is Nvidia will not support thr rt
kernel or the xen kernel with their "binary" drivers. So can't test any
further. But no problem installing.

I didn't know it at the time but I had run out of physical memory and
swap memory. Retrying it worked.
