If I run the control manager from the terminal, the output when I press
calibrate is:

I definitely had a web browser open, which means in all likelyhood I had
rdio.com open (an online streaming music service), it wouldn't have been
playing though, as I noted I wasn't at my computer when this occurred.
Whether that could manifest itself with this crash, I have no idea :)

GenArt (http://code.google.com/p/alsing/downloads/list) program under
Mono, latest Ubuntu (10.04), all packages up to date. The crash appears
non-deterministic, and seems to happen
Because of the way pip is installed it shouldn't matter. Pip is
installed locally to the virtualenv and thus shouldn't affect the system
pip, I've been upgrading pip in my old virtualenv installs and it's
totally isolated.

Ok, windows just started working again, I haven't done anything but I
can now connect, I did restart Ubuntu(its in a VM), but that was the 3rd
of 4th time I'd done that and I restarted samba after each change.
Unless someone else is having problems this can probably be closed.
