File /var/lib/dpkg/alternatives/php was corrupt. After deleting this
file, php5-cli could be removed and reinstalled.

Ubuntu 10.04-beta1 boots within less than three minutes, without that
lot of error messages. Looks like the issue is solved for me. Thank you!

On Ubuntu 9.04 LVDS output worked quite fine, but 9.10 does not mention
the LVDS output at all. It's not a notebook but a industrial embedded
