Just got this same problem. I'm using a fresh install of Ubuntu Karmik

It then logs me out straight away. I've had that kind of behaviour

After reformatting my usb using cryptsetup in karmik, it works again
with a window popping up requesting for a password. Of course, it was
just a pendrive, but it proves that different version of cryptsetup in
Karmik was the problem.

I've got this problem as well. I have a usb partition with LUKS and in
Jaunty cryptsetup 1.0.6 a window pops up asking for a password. In
Karmik nothing happens and I have to mount it manually with mount.crypt
(I seem to remember as I don't have my karmik machine in here now).

Just to confirm what user vocx says. I've had the same problem and
spanish hyphen was not loaded after having installed texlive-lang-
spanish. After running sudo fmtutil --all works fine and loads spanish
and catalan :). What is surprising is that MiKTeX for Win Vista does
have the same problem.

Yep, the problem was not having installed the openoffice.org meta package. The
thing is Ubuntu "default installation" does not install this metapackage that
includes the java support.
