Did not quite work for me in Intrepid Alpha 5 with all the updates. The
result is the same as in previous two Ubuntu releases. The system does
not wake up from suspend to ram on it's own. (Unless I don't hold down a
(any) key on the keyboard. Then it wakes up in ~10-15 seconds).

After I executed "sync; echo 1 > /sys/power/pm_trace; /etc/acpi/sleep.sh
force" as a root, the system did not go into suspend, but hanged

I can now confirm this - if rt61 is blacklisted, the problem is gone. If
I leave rt61, the system is unstable even with completely up-to-date
Feisty Beta.
I remember reading that rt2x00 drivers do not like SMP kernels. Maybe
that's somehow connected?

Feisty Beta almost works - it manages to wake up from suspend2ram just
fine, only the display stays off, as others have noted. It can be fixed,
though (at least it works for my nx7400 flavor).
There were 2 steps to enable display to resume:
1) I compiled i8042 as module, configured /etc/default/ac
Feisty Beta does not have this problem. I checked Ubuntu kernel sources,
it seems that the beforementioned fix is included in them. Some ACPI
problems remain with suspend2ram functionality (laptop wakes up with
black screen / without mouse and keyboard) but that's another bug.

I can confirm that Feisty's NetworkManager indeed misbehaves when there
is more than one network card present. I have two cards, one connected
to public internet, one is for my home network. Only one card works at
the time, I can even use NetworkManager to choose, which one.

This could indeed be the problem as I actually have rt61 card, too. I
recompiled my kernel using sources from kernel.org, afterwards I had no
wireless support, but also no freezes. There has to be something wrong
with rt61 driv
