I just upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04 beta 2, and on reboot unity froze.
After some trial and error, I was able to narrow it down to my dual-
monitor configuration.
Using the attached monitors.xml configuration, the display will freeze
after logging in from lightdm. However, if
I cannot replicate on my updated 12.10 installation either.

I upgraded from kubuntu 12.04, but decided to switch back to unity.

Here is the mission control log. To create this log I did the following:
Cleared old logs
opened chat application
pressed F4 to open account window
added jabber account which has been failing (initial connection fails here,
because there is no option to add a server)

I just upgraded from 11.11 to 12.04, and one of my jabber accounts now
fails to authenticate. I have confirmed that my username/password is
correct by installing pidgin and logging into the same server. In
addition, the credentials were not changed during the upgrade and it

get a blank screen with a non-spinning cursor. It never finishes

successfully connect to a WPA 2 network today that I could not before.
I'll keep my eye on it, but it appears that this problem has been
resolved for me.

If you have a wpa_supplicant.conf file for your wireless network, here
is how you can work around this problem.
# put the following in a script, and run with sudo
# shutdown network manager, and connect to network manually
set -x
/etc/init.d/NetworkManager stop
/etc/init.d/wpa-ifupdown stop
iwconf
I agree that this is not a timing issue. When I connect manually to my
WPA2 access point with wpa_supplicant, it connects almost instantly.

When attempting to connect to the wireless network at school, network
manager tries for a long time, but never succeeds. I am attaching the
syslog output from a connection attempt. I can manually connect to this
network with the following wpa_supplicant.conf file:

I just tested again with linux-image-2. 2.6.27-3.4, and the network card
worked for me. It autonegotiated 1000/FD but it worked this time. I
could also manually change the speed and duplex using ethtool. I did
not use it for an extended period of time, so it's possible it would
crash like Thibou
I also have a r8169 nic, and I believe that this issue is related to
gigabit auto negotiation. My cabling is not very good, and when the NIC
auto negotiates 1000 Full Duplex I constantly get these errors:

crashes. The icon retains whatever state it had when I last suspended
the machine, but it will not find new networks, and it does not connect
