i am having the same issue with Jaunty. (9.04) Gdm spontaneously restarts
(randomly) and not related to any other software. here is my sys.log

Your patch worked fine for intrepid but now i am on jaunty (9.04) and this bug
still continues.. if it is possible can you update your patch for jaunty and
using the PPA would be easier. Thanks in advance.

yes it is still an issue in 8.10 intrepid.

could you make your patch compatible with intrepid and 64 bit os? is it
possible ? because i don't think any of the developers other than you are
paying attention to this bug since it continues for more than 2 years.

i used your patch and it broke my update manager, synaptic and gdebi installer.
i used force install since it is an i386 package and i am using 64 bit os. now
can you tell me how to revert the changes back. if i type update manager in
terminal i get this output:

Just for your information: this bug no more occurs with intrepid ibex
release candidate aka 8.10. possibly the reason is because the affected
libraries that are mentioned above no more needed in ubuntu 8.10. anyway
i am happy finally this is not an issue because i was kind of bored with

update manager always shows 2 updates available, when i select to
install them it installs successfully but then shows the same updates
again and again no matter how many times i install them. this bug was
also available in ubuntu 7.04. i think it must related to turkish
langu
