Making djalfie's file an actual patch. The fix worked for my FC17, not
sure if the path to invest/applet.py is the same, for me it is:
/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/invest/applet.py
Just be aware of that when patching.

the workaround i was using before was using an older kernel (2.6.35-30
from ubuntu 10.10) but it wasnt completely stable
