This bug is (not surprisingly) also present in the server versions of
Ubuntu. I don't think such a default behavior is acceptable in a server
distro.
Actually I don't even think it is acceptable in a desktop distro.
One can change whether newly created home folders are world-readable or not:
sudo
Also none of the other methods that can be found on the forums work.
See a collection of methods here:

I simple workaround is to use start-stop-daemon.
Example:
start-stop-daemon --start --background --name tftpd --startas
/usr/sbin/in.tftpd -- -svL -m /etc/default/tftpd.rules
/unattended/bootdisk.new/tftpboot/

There are a lot of people seeking help, because they followed some old "how

A warning at the top of /etc/network/interfaces could help this situation.
Example of such a "how to":
Travis said that he had the same issue with an nvidia-based laptop, so
it's not only an intel problem.

Thanks for your report. To be able to fix the hotkeys on your laptop we need
three things:
1. What the key *should* do.
2. What keycode (magic number) the key produces on your laptop.
3. How to identify your laptop by the manufacturer and model.
