I am using ATA-over-Ethernet (aoe kernel module), but my root partition is
local.
Still, the "aoe"-hook script of initramfs-tools will be triggered, calling
"configure_networking", which fails indefinitely to get an IP-address from DHCP
on my unconnected ethernet device.

ubuntu would just shut down instead of suspending.

As you say, most people don't have a .Xresources file, and for these
people, xrdb won't even be executed - No loss in speed. For those people
who do: I would argue, that the complications of your solution are far
worse than the 0.01 second the -nocpp option saves (tested on my crappy

I'm affected, too. After terminating the update-manager and starting it
manually, the window showed up, but no icon in the launcher. I also
couldn't switch to the update-manager via alt+tab. The only way to get
back to the update-manager was to minimize all other windows.

No, disabled is the correct state. The option is hard to understand, but
you need to *disable* it, if you want to use a non English keyboard
layout!

it until a few seconds ago. If you enable it, it will use the system
wide keyboard settings, which seem to be the US English keyboard layout.
If you disable it, it will use the settings of your user account, which
are French/Ger

simple, according to the Gnome philosophy.

Thanks, now the geolocation via WLAN works. Although I had to update
xulrunner-1.9.1 myself, since the new firefox-3.5 package doesn't seem
to depend on the newest package of xulrunner-1.9.1.
