i have 'launch GNOME services at startup' selected from the 'settings' -
'settings manager' menu, and i am able to right-click on an image and
set is as the wallpaper. see if enabling this 'fixes' it for you as
well.

i have just became aware of this issue, and have subscribed to the
reports.. demoting this package is not really an option for
ubuntustudio... this would mean that out of the box, JACK would not have
firewire support... i will continue to do what i can to help resolve
this issue in a timely manner.

i put an NTSF partition on the drive, and that did the trick... now i am
prompted to resize...

but after a few attempts to read something.
Problem occured after clean install of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) no problem
