Hi was using 12.04 with an external montor since months, and had no
problems. most of the time the laptop remained always connected to the
external monitor. in the last weeks I started having problems when
reconnecting to the monitor (BUGs in xorg.0.log, machine locked but
accessible via ssh), both

I see no "Ask for this password every time" option: nm-applet forcedly
remembers wpa-enterprise network password, there is no apparent way to

after the oops the machine remains perfectly usable except for wireless
(nm-applet keeps asking for wpa passphrase but fails to connect, rmmod
ath9k fails)

fixed with nvdia 180 on 9.04

I tried enabling TwinView in xorg.conf.
The funny thing I discovered is that if I stop gdm and start the X
server with startx, TwinView works ok (see
Xorg.0.log_startx_user_2monitor_OK).
If then I start gdm, X keeps failing to startup (tried with both only
the laptop LCD and LCD + external LC
same problem reported in this forum thread, no solution found (the guy also
resorted to manually use nvidia-settings at boot)

I confirm this bug. depending on where I connect fromI use both network manager
(for ethernet and wireless), and a custom udev script that brings up pppoatm
automatically when the ADSL USB modem is connected (aetra modem, ueagle-atm
driver - see http://atm.eagle-usb.org/wakka.php?wiki=UEagleAtmU
a patch for the bug in the nv (""open"" source) driver has been posted
to the freedesktop bugzilla, and it works for a couple of users.
