Same problem here. I have had this problem since installing Ubuntu
16.04. This did not happen with Ubuntu 14.04.

release does not contain any reference to hardy.

I also have no upgrade option. I've been running the vanilla gutsy 7.10
on my IBM thinkpad T42. I have not modified the package manager in any
way. The update manager simply says everything is up-to-date.
