To be honest, Ubuntu was working as expected. I had booted single user
mode, forced apt to finish configuration, forced to upgrade packages and
rebooted. After reboot was system back to life. But that is not work for
end user.

If you are using LXDE panel with bundled weather applet, then yes.
If yo are using Plasma widgets for KDE (plasma-widget-cwp,
plasma-widget-weatherforecast), then you have similar issue with another
program.
Weather applet from LXDE panel is usingyahoo api, and I have no firewall.
Same bug is in Lubuntu 16.04 PowerPC:
lxpanel/xenial,now 0.8.1-1ubuntu2 powerpc [installed]
No one location can be selected.

I had checked history and found: There was migration of drivers from
snd-powermac to snd-aoa-*. So, there shall be easily added device #38
into snd-aoa-codec-tas. This had put sound card into live.

After installing 14.04, sound card PowerMac Snapper (Dev 38) was not detected.
I had try to use both combination of drivers (snd-powermac or
snd-aoa-codec-tas), but without success. Previous LTS version 12.04 worked with
this sound card without any issue.
