Got the workaround proposed in #8 working using these instructions. This
workaround was originally giving me a hard freeze with flashing
capslock, but this seems to fix it:

Bug verified. This appears to be the latest version of unzip in the
Intrepid repos. Any chance of fixing this or making a later version

I can confirm this with a clean install of the final release of Intrepid
on a Dell Latitude D400.
After pressing Function Up or Function Down to adjust screen brightness,
