Oops... i did had nautilus installed dããã disabling the effects and apt-get purge nautilus apt-get install nautilus /etc/init.d/gdm restart seems to have resolved the black desktop problem but still no icons on menu and no buttons on windows -- [Gutsy] high processor activity after log
