So some more digging and googling has returned some documentation, I can
now make alsa work with pulseaudio. Though, reading further it would
seem a smarter thing to potentially use pulseaudio to load the ladspa
plugins.
so the plughw pcm syntax should just be 'slave.p

I can confirm this bug.
If I change the MTU in
~/.kde/share/apps/networkmanagement/connections/, and
then reboot. It seems to work.
I don't know what to restart to get the connections file to be re-read.
This gets me further, but then I hit the next problem.

I am also having this same issue, and wpa_supplicant is working.
Network_manager just gives up.

I am trying to get rdesktop working with the same symptoms, but I am
running the latest drivers from nvidia.

So even with the latest version of the drivers doesn't fix the problem.
Am about to try turning composite off.
