this a 4 year old bug but it is present.
I use Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit, hp pavilion,

installed xserver-xorg-video-ati_7.3.0-1ubuntu4_amd64.deb but problem not
solved.
Installed latest driver from ubuntu amd catalyst app, released Apr 17.
I have
AMD/ATI Radeon HD 8670A/8670M/8690M
Ubuntu 14.04 clean install
Linux Kernel: 3.13
X-Server version: 1.15
It was fixed after inst

Same bug. Two computers, upgrade from 11.04 64 bit & clean install 11.10 32 bit.
Icons randomly fail to appear, either completely either there is a "?" as if
the icon is missing.

I had this bug on HP Pavilion, clean install ubuntu 11.10, nvidia proprietary
drivers.
Fixed after removing xfs.

Happy to see that bug is also annoying others.
In most of the double column pdf docs evince is not able to select the contents
of just one column. It selects the rows from all columns.
It is the major reason forcing me to use Adobe reader (the other is minor,
tabbed windows).

I have a similar problem with google docs. When i download several docs in zip
format the non-English chars ado not appear at all and the file names are
..ods or .odt.
Is this a general issue of the zip format?

Had to export contacts as a sisgle vcard and do search through gedit to
deal with it.
