I run with the same problem with my bluetooth speaker. Everytime I pair
it to my computer, GNOME Sound Setings defaults it to HSP/HSF and it
doesn't even register when I select A2DP, leaving me only with HSP/HSF
and its terrible sound quality.

I did a clean install of the final Xenial release to rule out any faulty
configuration files and the issue still happens.
Something to note is that when I boot with a second screen plugged in it does
not freezes until I am on the desktop.

I do not know if an update brought this issue because I did not plugged any
monitors since I updated from wily.
I installed kernel 4.5 but the bug is still present. I wonder if the issue
comes from Xorg instead of the kernel.

effects in KDE 4.1 (Compiz) does solve the problem.
