I can confirm this on Kubuntu Natty final. Not just Firefox 4, but also

I'm using Kubuntu Karmic Koala (9.10) and this problem is still there in
the Qt4 version of Kaffeine. Since this bug has been around for so long,
I don't believe the dev has any intention of fixing it. Just move on and
use something else, like VLC. That's what I did. It's ashame that
Kubuntu dev tr
This problem still exists in Karmic Kubuntu, even though gtk-qt-engine is now
replaced by kcm-gtk. The workaround is still the same.
First you need to configure theme separately for root/sudo by starting system
settings with command:
kdesudo systemsettings
The file .gtkrc-2.0-kde4 will be creat

I'm running Kubuntu 9.10 alpha 3 with package kcm-gtk-0.5.2-0ubuntu1
installed. Application such as Synaptic, running as sudo, will not use
GTK+ themes specifies by kcm-gtk (listed as GTK+ Appearance under
Kubuntu System Settings). It will use the
i'm using kubuntu edgy with kde 3.5.6 and i still have this problem. my
monitor never go into power saving mode which i set to kick in after 25
minutes. However, it does remember my setting after reboot. i first
thought it was because of beryl, but removing beryl does not make this
problem go away.
