Hi!
I am running Kubuntu 8.10 alpha (fully updated as at now). I have been running
it for a fortnight now, with a surprisingly small number of deal-breaker
issues. I noticed since a few days ago, after a routine update, that the system

I have found the cause of the suspend/resume glitch: atieventsd.
Disabling atieventsd (which installs with the proprietary fglrx driver)
solves the issue.

Hi!
I found the cause of the strange behavior on suspend: atieventsd. I was
using fglrx on Intrepid. When I upgraded to the Jaunty alphas (presently
running with an empty xorg.conf - likely to be using the -ati xorg
driver), I did not disable atieventsd. Disabling it cures the
suspend/resume issue

[HD 2600] Cannot enable desktop effects on Gateway M-Series Laptop
Hello!
I have a Gateway M-Series laptop (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 with HDMI; Intel
STAC92xx). I have been running Intrepid since the last alpha. Initially, sound
did not work at all - not unusual, for an early pre-release. When it finally
got fixed, I was left with a problem that manifests as
