I know this is really old, but I encountered this just now, I have the
same issue in two different computers with Ubuntu 22.04 (both upgraded
from 20.04), and the /etc/resolv.conf had just a "nameserver
127.0.0.53", I suspect this is an issue with the upgrade.

I found a workaround that doesn't require to disable secure boot:
Get the latest memtest (or at least above 6.10)
Use these instructions to create a machine owner key (remove the .2 at the end
of the extendedKeyUsage line in the config file) and enroll it (you don't need
to reboot twice to Ubuntu

CPU: Intel i5-6267U
The BIOS is from 2016, but no more recent version seems to be available.
What's interesting:
Cold boot usually works, with the microcode successfully loaded.
In this cases, I get e.g. this
I think I have the same issue (or a very similar one), the probe
workaround works, the udev one does not, can I help investigate this?

OK, this is really strange, after tons of reboots to Ubuntu and Win 10, it
started working again after I disabled the legacy boot option.
Still would like a solution to the timeouts other than rebooting twice, though.
I'm a developer, so if there are multiple code changes that need to be tested,

issue I'm facing.

I think I have the same issue on my Idea Pad 5, before I got i2c controller
timed out errors, but after a firmware upgrade, I don't see any errors, I'll
try to revert my firmware settings to see if I can restore the previous state
(where after windows is started, touchpad workd on the next boot)
