Thanks, I already on 18.04. After uninstalling ROS, do-release-upgrade -d
starts works properly. But there is an another problem in upgrade proccess.
I have zfs raid as data storage. And after rebuting new kernel was unable
to load. Problem solves by by buting in old kernel and export-uninstall zfs

I can fully confirm the original reporter's observations. I have a 2nd
generation Thinkpad X1 Carbon here with the same wireless card and I had
exactly the same symptoms:
* Connectivity losses
* Bad performance
* Once the device uses wireless (e.g. a download), all other devices in the

Sorry for not replying earlier. The problem did not occur anymore since
some kernel update in Karmic and is definetly no longer a problem in the
Lucid Beta.

This bug was most likely fixed in the mainstream kernel for version
2.6.33-rc3 (see https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14141)
Please backport the respective patch from vanilla kernel GIT repository
to Karmic to fix this issue.

For me it looks like a bug in the ubuntu kernel here. There is no reason
why the "change" event is delayed until some read access to the device
happens. A possible scenario (speculation) is that some buffer holds the
event, that is flushed when the device is read,
