I'm not having much luck with installing xfce4-notes-plugin-1.7.7.
The gtk+-2.0 dependency is a bit of a hangup.

I tried removing saved sessions and inadvertently deleted something
which damaged my system.
I did a clean install of Jaunty and the problem has not returned.

I am also suffering from this multiple xfdesktop affliction.
Items of note:
1. the problem is present on my laptop which was a fresh Jaunty install
2. the problem is not evident on either of my desktops which have been
dist-upgraded.
Also, there may be more severity based on how long the laptop
I suspect the battery applet problem is a symptom of the known acpi
kernel bug.

My Sony Vaio has a related problem, although the symptom is different.
Symptom: Battery state always reads 100%.
This is a fresh install of Xubuntu Gutsy Gibbon.

I had a success installing Xubuntu on my Vaio SR33K using the 6.10 Alternate
ISO.
I selected the text mode installation and the procedure was flawless.
