I can reproduce this on 8.10. My fstab looks like: //venus/home/mnt/venushome cifs credentials=/etc/smbcredentials,uid=drodgman,gid=drodgman,workgroup=,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 doing a "cd" into a mounted directory triggers a (usually immediate) kernel panic. Kernel version is 2.6.2
