Thanks Till! That all seems like a bit much just to get this feature

Yeah, same here, on a Lucid fresh install.
Another good workaround is to install CDRDAO and use that as a
standalone CD backup program. CDRDAO runs from the command line, and
although its man page and documentation are rather byzantine, there is

I am having this problem on a fresh install of 10.04. Tried to remove

Hey guys I think this bug is back. I'm using Empathy 2.30.0.1 on Ubuntu
10.04. If I add an avatar (buddy icon) for any protocol except MSN it
works. However, if I add one for MSN it does not save. This doesn't
require an Empathy restart; the MSN icon/avatar is completely ignored by
Empathy.

I am also experiencing this problem; it is new to me since upgrading to

After removing both iBus and SCIM and then reinstalling (via Synaptic

Here is some additional clarification on this. The original bug report

I can confirm Alex's comment that this continues to be a problem in
Intrepid. It doesn't appear to be dependent on the existence/non-
existence of the Main Menu in the panel. "killall gnome-panel" resets
the panels and restores auto-hide temporarily, but the problem recurs.
