I've the same problem with my Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E620 USB Modem dongle. With my Nokia N93i I can go online (it use the module cdc_acm). But it's funny. Yesterday I'll get online with the Huawei dongle. Is it clear when a new kernel will come with the updates? My kernel 2.6.31-14-generic

I've found a Workaround for this problem. Just rename the hidden file .font.config (may .font.config.bak) in your home folder. reloggin to Ubuntu and start Firefox again. With this the problem is solved for me. But why is it not active after a update? I attached the font.config for analysing --

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: mozilla-firefox After updating Ubuntu from Jaunty to Karmic the font-rendering in Firefox 3.5.3 is very ugly. The fonts are very "thin", not like before the update. The problem I get only after an update. By a new installation in a VM this won't happend.
