Assumed behaviour: All my available channels are listed in the window
below the tv frame.
Observed Behaviour: This list is limited and incomplete. I assumed me-tv
did not find all channels available in my area.
Suggestion: Just display all channel

I manually set /etc/papersize to nothing and issued
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure libpaper1
/etc/papersize resides empty.
I am the first user on the system.
$ id
verifies that my uid and gid is 1000
I selected Germany as my country an ubuntu correctly guessed my keyboard
layout during install.
