@Kip, I didn't save the history, but the kernel rebuild was something
like the following:

I've tested the command below both with an unpatched and a patch Debian
6.9.7 kernel. The test hung as expected with the unpatched kernel, and
succeeded with the patched kernel.
There was one gotcha here: I didn't bump my kernel version upon rebuild,
so when the test started, the original kernel w
I've testing this with a Debian unstable image and a patched 6.8.12
kernel and I'm also happy to say that it fixed the issue for me, too.
