The gtk interface failed but text mode worked but there was a problem
bulding fglrx.ko. here is the error i got

Installing initial mod
have ubuntu satanic edition, screensaver is set to the eternity
screensaver. It worked properly in the past but crashed this time when i
tried to cancel the screensaver.

I had the same problem, a copy of pidgin was already running in the
tray. I was signed in to gtalk and yahoo. i opened another copy of
pidgin by mistake and the crash occurred. i could not reproduce the
error again. I have ubuntu hardy heron beta installed on my computer.
