This isssue is still persist on headless Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS server.
Need to edit and update grub with GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT=2 option to
avoid the boot stuck.
I wish Ubuntu comes with built-in GRUB_RECORDFAIL_TIMEOUT=2 as default.

my site -running ubuntu 14.04 lts server 64bit edition- uses the mcrypt
too. somehow the default installation did not enable the mcrypt.
so we do have to enable it manually by doing "sudo php5enmod mcrypt",
restart the apache, and voila!
sudo php5enmod mcrypt
sudo service apache2 restart
cd /etc/
totally agree with robi, hope you guys don't kill support for mdraid
raid1. :)

i experience the same thing too. mp3 files often skipping when played
from rhythmbox, banshee, and audacious. changing the default gstreamer
to alsa didn't cure all skipping, only minimize it. set the default rate
to 44100 in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf only minimize the skipping too.
i use ubuntu 10.0
thanks Allen, set the IGD aperture size back to 256 fixed my no audio
problem too! :D

audio chipset in gigabyte 780g motherboard) the rythmbox keeps

i confirm this bug is still here with ubuntu 8.04.4 server i386 with the
latest update up to this date. i use bind9 to my dns set to 127.0.0.1
and i use static ip address in the /etc/network/interfaces on eth0.
i believe by the time the ntp daemon tried to connect to ntp.ubuntu.com,

i could not set the default saving option of openoffice.org presentation
to .ppt though i've already set it to Microsoft Powerpoint 97/2000/2003.
It seems it has two same options appears on the option list (Tools >
Options > Load/Save > Gen
thanks FrancisT, i sudo modprobe parport_pc and it detected my lp0
device. i wonder why ubuntu 9.10 could not detect this on first
installation. :)

using hp deskjet 3920 connected to windows xp shared network printing
from ubuntu jaunty could not print any. :(
the job is sent/done completely from the notification manager, but not a
page printed on the windows xp machine.

restart" several times. i run ubuntu 8.04.2 with the latest update up to

i can confirm that network printing through IPP
(ipp://localhost:631/printers/printername) could not work from jaunty to
hardy.
fortunately network printing through samba works well from jaunty to
hardy though.

i could not connect this jaunty machine to print on hardy machine
through the IPP. i noticed this symptoms from the very start of jaunty
official release. at first i thought it was my hp deskjet, but then got
another machines with jaunty and hardy, and deskjet print
thanks Till Kamppeter, it seems too hard for me newbie, and it seems
karmic solve this problem. until now, i purchase windows license and use
it as print server, the easiest way. :)

somehow it finally stops hang on quit after i change all the setting in
sound from pulseaudio to alsa.
