i could boot with failsafe graphic work, search the internet and find a
solution
just upgraded from karmic to lucyd on my dell inspiron 700m with intel
graphic card: after boot it crashes nice.
The solution (using an old kernel) found on post #54 from this duplicate bug

I forgot to add that i am able to get in with the failsafe gnome as
well. (trying to activate 3d desktop from there fails)

After having modified general appearance of the desktop (through the "human
beeing" graphical menu) for several items:
-login screen
-desktop wallpaper
-some compiz settings
-emerald theme
The new "environment" worked fine in the current session, but after shut
down and boot
