Can confirm this issue occurs on Ubuntu 12.10 when trying to Sync with
my Galaxy Nexus (stock 4.1.2).
To reproduce:
Start Rhythmbox -> Connect phone -> Right click on Media player in sidebar ->
Select properties

Problem can be confirmed on the Asus UL30VT also. Touchpad is seen as a
Logitech PS/2 Wheel Mouse.

Ok, when the USB key has been inserted and you can see it in dmesg, run
$ sudo fdisk -l /dev/sdb
where sdb is what is shown in dmesg, this will give you a list of the
partitions on the device.

You almost got the syntax right with dmesg. Plug the drive in and in a
terminal, execute:
$ dmesg | tail
This should show you the last few lines of dmesg. Can you post the
output of that?

I agree, this is a usability issue which is in need of a fix. There is
no indication that specific files have been cut from a folder. Upstream
do not see this as an important issue but for people switching from
Windows it is a major issue as the UI could appear unresponsive as it
does not give feed
I can confirm this bug under Karmic with -intel and Compiz enabled.
A workaround is to disable Compiz (setting it to 'None' in the Visual
Effects settings). The blinking occurs when set to Normal or Extra/

I have just had the same issue, happened when I turned the bluetooth
device on my laptop (MSI Wind U100) off.
