I set my home directory
to default permissions:
$ chmod 755 $HOME
, it succeeds. I don't know much details on this, but perhaps the
printing process should take the effective user-id of the invoking user
so that it would be capable of writing into $HOME/PDF without problems.

Another reason for me to stay on 8.04 is that I tried to upgrade and got
a warning saying that there were no NDIVIA driver available for 8.10, so
I'm afraid I'm bounded to 8.04 till a new version with this driver
available is released...

Did anyone find a way to fix this issue in 8.04 without upgrading?
I've to spend a lot of work after any upgrade, so I would appreciate if
someone would be able to tell me how to do this. It's really annoying,
indeed...
