I set my home directory to default permissions: $ chmod 755 $HOME , it succeeds. I don't know much details on this, but perhaps the printing process should take the effective user-id of the invoking user so that it would be capable of writing into $HOME/PDF without problems. Regards, --B

Another reason for me to stay on 8.04 is that I tried to upgrade and got a warning saying that there were no NDIVIA driver available for 8.10, so I'm afraid I'm bounded to 8.04 till a new version with this driver available is released... -- Evince doesn't print PDF files https://bugs.launchpad.ne
