This is happening to me too. I've tried downloading the iso image again

When I click the cross or select "close", it closes Banshee, which is
also reflected in Unity (ie no pointer to indicate it's open).
I then go to the sound-indicator. It shows Banshee and the song still
playing. I click on "Banshee" in the indicator, yet Banshee doesn't pop

This is still happening in 11.04 on my Dell Studio 15. Looks like I'll
be reverting back to 10.04. Am amazed such a critical bug hasn't been
fixed, and may not be fixed until 11.10.

So the argument about users and their experience, or how you think it

get around it. In which case you may as well just open it up properly

Think this discussion has gone on too long and is going nowhere. It
needs to be reviewed.
1) Clearly developers have a need to be able to override the default
time of the notification. That needs to be considered, especially if you
want to encourage development on the platform.

Can't believe they'd ignore the community so much. Very poor process not
to ignore what users are clearly requesting, as a) it'll anger them, and
b) they'll go elsewhere eventually when someone offers what they want.
In all honesty, I actually use Linux Mint now (have done for a while).

I've also tried 190b drivers with Firefox 3.6, but no luck.

Hmmm not sure I agree with that explanation. It's clear that people want
to be able to set the length a notification shows for. It's a feature
that is even listed in the documentation.
People are asking to be able to use it, and you're either not letting
them, or are suggesting having a one-contro
The initial problem is that the API documentation (which I can't find on
Google now) and Wiki didn't/don't quite match.
It so happened that Adrian and I came across the API documentation,
rather than the Wiki. And in most cases I would guess that people using
it will just look at the API documenta

It's also hugely misleading. I followed documentation, and spent a fair

Definitely a bug or inconsistency in my opinion.
As mentioned something like Pidgin, if I select close or click the "x"
it just minimizes. Rhythmbox seems to be the only app that goes against
this. Hence I see it as a bug as it's not consistent with other apps.

Soory for not responding earlier.
Mine sort of works too.
On my Philips 20" 200W6 TFT (1680x1050) usplash now displays, albeit at
a lower resolution of 1024x768. That's ok for now though, but it would
be nice to close the bug fully.
I have an install script, part of which changes the resolution

Is this a bug in xserver then?
I've tried it with PC Linux OS and everything works straight out of the

Is it something in the Ubuntu build (an older version of something

Wow, thanks for responding so quickly.
I've tried the Windows app you mentioned, I'll post the output. I've
also run "sudo xresprobe vesa" and got the output from that.
I can confirm it's definitely still happening in Gutsy (Tribe 3), so
doesn't appear to be fixed in the latest xserver.
