I tried the alternate iso and it works. The graphical install menu comes
up. I didn't try to install it since I want to try out the live CD
first. So why is it that the regular live CD gives an error when
booting?

Interesting, how would I add that kernel into the 11.04 live CD iso?
IKT: I will give the alternate iso a try this weekend.

Title:
11.04 Live CD
Public bug reported:
I'm unable to load the Ubuntu 11.04 Live CD (both 32 and 64 bit). The live CD
for Ubuntu 10.10 works perfectly. When I boot off the 11.04 CD I get the purple
screen that says Ubuntu and then I get a screen that says:
"Unable to find a medium containing a live file system".
They work fine over here. I have a Geforce 2 MX 32MB and I can enable
effects through compiz and the extra effects from the appearance menu.
I followed the instructions by luk1don (post 45) on this page. It asked me
something about some preinstall script but I just said continue.

Guys, I fixed it. The issue was that the Intel video driver is disabled
by default on Ubuntu 10.10. I have an Inspiron 1150 which has the Intel
855 GME graphics. So here's what I did:
1. Followed steps on this website (except for the xorg.conf) and also got the
i855 patch

@Vicenzo: Could it be that the problem is caused by something else? I
don't have any parameters for the kms_drm_helper under 2.6.35. Do you
have a parameters folder under /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/ ?

Same issue here on a Dell Inspiron 1150 which has a Pentium 4 2.8GHZ
with Intel 852/855 graphics. The only solution I've found so far was to
downgrade the kernel (2.6.35-rc5). There's also another bug report here

Just tried your 2.6.36 kernel and while the slowdown was fixed, my
wireless doesn't work just like in 35-rc5.

Any chance you could provide us with a patch to fix up 2.6.35-22?
