to notice the difference because I did try displaying immediately after
upgrading kernel to 2.6.32-30. Since I had the previous kernel installed

Answering my own question:
I downloaded the deb from natty repos and installed it manually in
lucid. I guess this shouldn't be the official way. But I checked that
the dependencies haven't changed from the previous version and I usually
keep a note of all the s/w I installed 'unofficially'.

I have to add that this bug seems fixed for me. I am running lucid with
the latest kernel updates. The fix happened sometime in the last few
weeks. I have been meaning to update this bug but forgot about it.

instantly.
I tried the following: started in recovery mode without X and the
freeze/hang happened even then. So it seemed like a kernel issue and

Update: I found the reason and a possible fix for this bug.
Because of this mesg in the logs:
psmouse: Unknown parameter `synaptics_resume_reset'
the psmouse module was not loaded - I checked using 'lsmod'.
I searched for "synaptics_resume_reset" and came across the file
/etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.

I installed jaunty (amd64) on my new Sony VAIO SR220J but am
experiencing random kernel hangs every so often. (The laptop is always
updated to the latest and greatest in the repositories).
Initially, I thought it always happened after resuming from suspend or

mentioned in the other bug report.
The workaround was described by cdurst. Once you enter all the
information to the wizard, don't use the "Get Accounts" buttton but
close it by pressing 'OK'. The accounts can be retreived later

I still see this issue in the most updated hardy today. I have changed
my wireless card - I now use an atheros chipset with the ath_pci driver.
I can connect to wireless networks with no encryption, WEP networks
using network-manager. However my work network uses WPA2 as described in
comment 6.

I upgraded from gutsy to hardy. ABIT AN-M2 motherboard. Sound was working
perfectly fine in gutsy - no issues whatsoever.
In hardy, sound is working when I start/restart. However, sound does not work
after I resume from hibernate.
This issue still exists with the latest hardy. I have changed my
wireless card - it now has an atheros chipset. I can connect manually
using wpa_supplicant but nm doesn't connect or even recognize that its
connected.

My laptop, Averatec 2150 (similar to MSI 1013) is unable to hibernate in
hardy alphas/beta. I have tried using both the gnome-panel button as
well as directly forcing acpi scripts.
