This happened on my Toshiba Satellite C55 running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS after
the last update. I ran "xrandr --auto" once after finally getting into
the GUI by booting into maintenance mode and resuming normal boot. It
seems to have fixed the problem for the time being. I can close the lid
for sleep

Thanks for the tip. I uninstalled docky and removed the docky scripts from
/etc/pm/sleep.d. The problem is gone, now. I liked docky, but not enough to
put up with that. I'll look for where to post this bug in docky.

Linux 3.2.0-41-generic-pae and the Docky problem has vanished! I've
used it and abused it. I''ve wipped it and lashed at it with the mouse

I did a fresh install of U12.04 on my Toshiba Satellite C655 laptop.
Updated and installed Docky. Had not installed Gnome3, yet. Was running
a terminal, firefox and gedit. Moused over the dock a couple of times
and it locked the desktop. Same thing that I originally reported.

Now, I have updated 2 desk top computers with Intel Core processors, 1
Quad, 1 Dual, with no ill effects on Docky. I am going to try a
reinstall on my laptop this coming weekend. It could be some
interaction with my particular installation. Could be interaction with

If this is only happening on 12.04.2 LTS, maybe the thing to do would
be go ahead and upgrade to the newest version, 13.04, but that defeats
the purpose of LTS.

Tried docky on 12.04.2 with Unity and it does the same thing. Seeing as
Unity is based on Gnome, I would not expect anything else.

I've just installed a Intel DG35EC motherboard with an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
3GHz processor and 4GB RAM now running Linux las 2.6.28-11-server #42-Ubuntu
SMP Fri Apr 17 02:48:10 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux.
I was puzzled by the fact that only 3GB of memory was usable with the desktop
9.04 system.
The Epson 2450 scanner works perfectly connected to a fresh install of
U8.10.

I just dl'd the 8.04 RC and it won't partition on my installation.
I have:
sda1 ntfs 20 GB (windows XP)
60 GB Free
With the partitioner, I created:
sda2 ext3 7.5 GB
sda3 ext3 49.5 GB
sda4 swap 2.048 GB
It gets to 15% partitioning and has an error creating the partition
This persists with version 2.0.0.6 of Firefox
