Same Problem here (Karmic, amd64). Nautilus uses almost all of my RAM
(3.3GB) and causes constant swapping after some heavy file copy

I finally took the time to trace it down.
Short answer: the problem is not gnome-session (it just makes the
problem apparent), sorry for wasting your time.
Long answer: After resuming, the IR receiver component of my TV card
went mad and generated lots of HAL events that caused the
logout/shutdo
I just upgraded to Jaunty RC and the problem still persists.

I have the same issue, after about 12h pidgin ran out of file handles.
~$ lsof | grep pidgin | wc -l
1339
Examples of open handles are:

I've exactly the same problem, just that it happens immediately after bootup (I
don't need to rearrange the panel). Compiz works fine even after the crash. (If
I logout, X doesn't start properly again, but I doubt that this is related).

I experience the same behavior as DavidL and Andy Kniss:
As soon as I start composing a new message, the CPU usage of gnome-
keyring-daemon goes up to 50% (on dual core CPU) and doesn't go down
until I exit Evolution. I use Evolution with Exchange and IMAP accounts.
I'm under Hardy 64bit.
