The issue seems to lie somewhere in lightdm. I was able to successfully
build .deb packages for the fglrx drivers and install. Each time I
installed it, on the next restart lightdm would exit with status one.
Using the command sudo service lightdm start would end with the same
results. The service

A few more steps I've taken to resolve the issue: I have installed
module-assistant from the repositories and attempted installing fglrx in
hopes that might resolve what seems like a module building issue. With
my limited knowlege I can't say much with any authority but the card is
not detected in

Fglrx had been installed and working previously but X no longer starts
on reboot after most recent update through apt-get update. Have tried
the most recent versions in the 12.04 repos for fglrx, fglr
