I am using latest (up-to-date) Ubuntu 7.10 with Compiz. Week ago I
upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy.
I have no clue what else can I do or how can I catch the real reason of
this bug. It just stands there on my laptop as well as at least on one
other desktop (up-to-date Ubuntu 7.10 with Compiz).

I am installed RC with daily updates.
To reproduce this bug:
lock the screen -> move mouse until unlock dialog is displayed -> Press for
example ALT+F2 which will open "Run Application" dialog in background (login
dialog will lose the focus) -> unlock computer -> "Run Application" dialog is
vis
I didn`t found the way to get my sound back. I do not want to reinstall ubuntu,
for this purpose I can use windows ;)
Is there anybody with the same problem or more preferably with the solution?
It is pretty annoying to live 2 days without any noise from my laptop except
beeps during plug in/out
Sound disappears after hibernate for me too, I tried almost every suggestion
above - nothing resolved this problem.
The only thing I was unable to try is hibernate on Linux -> log in win -> check
the sound -> go back to linux - I don`t have win on may laptop, speaking of
which - Feisty with 2.6.
