This is like one of those most annoying but easiest to fix bugs, and yet it is still unfixed in Karmic. It seems to me that any Ubuntu maintainer in position could have fixed it at his fingertips but nobody has done it yet. Or maybe Ubuntu assumes users are responsible for small bug fixes themselve
