I can also confirm that I have this bug. Editing out the --search part
of the boot line gives me a working system. However... I just did some
updates and part of the update was a new kernel linux-2.6.31-16-generic.
After the updates my system reboots and instead of encountering the

I have about 16gb of data sitting in my Ubuntu One folder and only 4.4gb

data that needs to be uploaded UbuntuOne states that all of my files are

I seem to be having this same problem. I have Kubuntu 9.10 loaded on two

these laptops. Almost every time I log in I get a notice in my system
tray that ubuntuone has crashed. The UbuntuOne Icon does not appear in

I have recently upgraded to the latest alpha of Kubuntu 9.10 using
kernel version "2.6.31-5". The upgrade went without incident in regards
to the bug and I had no issues with booting or corruption of my file
system.

Understood, I've been waiting to see if there are any other patterns to
this and I haven't noticed anything yet. I'll update if I do notice
something that I think might be helpful for trouble shooting.

The newest kernel version 2.6.27-7.12-generic seems to have fixed the
issue. Kubuntu now sees the whole disk size and does not corrupt it when
booting. Thanks to whoever fixed it.
Can this bug be recommended for closure?

Just pinging back to say that I still have this problem. I'm staying

Just a quick update. You can scratch of the SATA to IDE adapter as being
part of the problem. I attached the IDE disk directly to one of the IDE

I'm not sure if I have the same issue or not but figured this would be
the best place to post.

Last night I got an update message for a new 2.6.20-14-generic kernel so
I figured what the heck, I'll give it a try. I downloaded and installed
the update and what do you know the thing actually boots without any
problems. I'm a little confused though because I'm not sure if they
released the 2.6.
I already sent Ben and Kyle an e-mail about this but I thought I should
post my comments below in case other people have the same issue.
