Regarding the RAID mode instead SATA:
I wonder how people talk about switching to RAID, because RAID uses mirroring
and with 2 drives the total volume is decreasing twice, then. This solution is
not good, I suspect...

I have DELL Inspiron 530.
Have had the bug described.
Have tried the all_generic_ide=1 option at kernel startup - it helps to start.
But!
But when the PC goes into Standby state, the problem is back at wake-up. The PC
must be always ON, never sleep.
