I have a similar experience with my Toshiba U405d. The computer won't
power off if I send the signal to suspend or shutdown, THEN close the
lid. The lid has to remain open until power down.

I would have to agree with the others. NTP is installed properly and I
have been unable to bypass this. Keep receiving the dialog box that
features
"Please install and activate NTP support in the system to enable
synchronization of your local time server with internet time servers."

Been experiencing the same problem since 7.10. Usually just have to
'alt-F2' 'nvidia-settings -l' to revert back to my settings. Would be
