looks like a firmware bug of some sort. I wonder how windows works
around it though since apparently windows is unaffected (I can't confirm

This bug is duplicatable for me. Every time I open system monitor and
select another tab it will refuse to close. If I open system monitor
and immediately close it without selecting another tab it works fine
however. I am running 9.04 x64 if it makes any difference.

Unfortunately, I am having the same identical problem as originally
described in Intrepid 64-Bit. It is intermittent (maybe 1 out of 3
boots) The Machine has an AMD 690G integrated chipset, and experiences
the blank GDM problem with both the generic ATI and proprietary ATI
