I have a similar issue with built in screen in a laptop, it has smaller
than usual pixels so the default resolution 3840x2160 (15.6", Dell
Precision M3800 PM-RD33-928) gives tiny icons and buttons and text. I

I installed fvwm, so I'm now able to login into graphical environment
and launch all KDE apps.
however when trying to replace window manager, using

there is a crash and I get back to login screen.

I also have lenovo 3000 N100(Model no. 0768-FPG) and experiencing this issue.
This is especially annoying since the old bug about screen brightness that sets
to minimum when certain qt apps are running(VLC, VBox, Avidemux, etc.).
I've my /usr/share/gnome-power-manager/gnome-power-bugreport output
I would like to confirm this as well. I somehow managed to remove pulse
audio (not before I had to delete a file from
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/70...). Once pulse audio was gone, ALSA was working
fine.
I'm running on a Dell D630... Intel HDA.
