I'm also not sure why you are marking this as "incomplete" when it has
already been confirmed along with pertinent logs. Random housecleaning?

This bug still exists along with other issues related to AVRs connected
to Ubuntu. I'm afraid that I don't want to risk breakage by using a
developmental release. I'll be happy to test matters when a new stable
comes out.
That said, has there been anything added/modified in the developmental

Public bug reported:
I have a Denon AVR through which my Kubuntu 13.10 box connects to my TV.
All works well until I decide to switch off my AVR (while leaving
Kubuntu on). When I switch it back on, I get nothing on my display.
Looking at the logs reveals this:

Thank you Goutam. I removed the cartridge and the head (?) from the
printer and reinserted it. The test print page came through fine! Thank
you for your time and patience.

Hi Goutam,
I've installed 3.12.4 and run it. Prior to doing so, I removed the
existing printer entry and also unplugged the printer until required.
Everything went smoothly and the hpcups driver appears to be installed.

Hi Goutam,
The plugin is installed fine. It's the printer driver/firmware that is
not being installed using hplip. When I print a test page, I just get a
blank sheet of paper back. The HP printer manager also displays the
printer icon with a cross as well as an option to "Install required

Thanks Till. Does your statement imply that auto-installation works for
other HP printers?

Hi Amarnath,
As Till mentioned, all runtime dependencies are satisfied. Do you want
me to uninstall and compile from source?
-
Hi Till,
Thank you for following this up! Seeing as to how hplip is not Precise
friendly yet, does that still make this issue invalid?
-
Hi Goutam,
Thank you Till. Here's the output of hp-check -t if it helps any. The
errors and warnings only pertain to "COMPILE-TIME" dependencies. RUNTIME
dependencies are all satisfied.
While this is being resolved, could somebody please point me to the .ppd
file for this printer?
My thanks!

Hi,
I upgraded a Lucid LTS box to Precise-beta1 using an alternate install

a new printer - HP Laserjet Pro P1108. The printer was not detected at

Thanks Karl. I can now log into karmic as well by adding the Module

still not log in directly. I need to select "console login" and login
via the console using startx. Attempting to log out using KDE also

Bartosz,
I'd previously tried the Jaunty kernel to no effect. However, I
noticed that there were a bunch of updates for Xorg via apt which I've

release which I've also installed.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/
Bartosz: The Xorg.0.log file when I was using svn713? That error seems
to be present in all log files.
That said, if this driver was working in Jaunty for me, shouldn't
reverting to 713 fix the issue? Is the error elsewhere, perhaps?
Many thanks for looking into this.
