To debug authentication problems you want to use the test-passwd tool in
the src directory or the gnome-screensaver sources.
This may be fixed by the patch in GNOME bug #387572.

This message is because PAM is returning PAM_PERM_DENIED. You run the
"test-passwd" tool that is included with gnome-screensaver source to see
which pam method is returning this value.

Oh, another reason why this is bad is that even if the screensaver
doesn't activate while the movie is playing it will mark the session as
idle and gnome-power-manager may power down the screen or computer.

I just noticed that you patch mplayer to disable gnome-screensaver by changing
the value of the gconf key:
/apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_activation_enabled
This is not the right way to do it. There are many reasons:
* mplayer may exit, for whatever reason, before it can reen
Use gconf-editor to set the key:
/apps/gnome-screensaver/lock_delay

file it with upstream gnome-screensaver and I'll help out.
We've made attempts to make this work correctly but if you have more than a
